What makes Horse Sense different?
To start with, I have no age limit on my students. I teach from diapers to dentures and sometimes back to diapers. If they have a desire to learn, I am honored to coach them. Many people believe you can't teach a child under the age of 7 to ride, I know that is incorrect. I was in the showring as a 2 year old and training ponies when I was 5. I also do not believe any age is too old. I am happy to help you from your walker up onto the back of one of my quiet horses as long as your doctor says it is all right! I have a relaxed teaching style and don't believe in raising my voice. I try to build confidence in the student. My theory is if you are doing something wrong then I have not done a good enough job at explaining what you need to do and WHY and I spend more time on it with you. My focus is on SAFETY and FUN. I try to encourage responsibility, honesty, and integrity in the horses and the students. By making the student aware of how subtle body language affects the horse it helps them to communicate with humans as well. I stress the importance of patience. We do go to a couple horse shows a year but don't focus on competition between other barns or people. I feel there is plenty of competition in the world and I want to offer a place of peace, fun and learning. I simply want each student to challenge themselves to be the best person and horseman they can possibly be each day.
I am located in Pinellas Park, Pinellas County, FL. I offer horseback riding lessons, groundwork lessons, problem solving, and as an added bonus I take my students on local trail rides and even offer treasure hunts! If you would like to learn how to be horse savvy, please contact me!
